I have been working as an independent consultant and advisor since May 2012, where I retired after 15 years as CEO for The Danish Agency for Libraries and Media. My core competencies as a consultant are within policy- and strategy building, organization and service-concept creation. I coach, advise, facilitate processes, evaluate, write reports and lecture.

The Danish Agency for Libraries and Media (Now Danish Agency for Culture) is among other things responsible for development and cooperation between libraries. In my fifteen years as head I was responsible for and deeply involved the transition of libraries to match a digital age. I was engaged in matters like:

  • Preparing the library legislation for the digital society
  • Building a national digital research library organization and establishing digital services for research and education
  • Building digital services and creating new frames and organizational structures for public libraries
  • Creating new concepts and services for libraries matching the needs in the knowledge society.

As a CEO I was advisor to the government in library matters and head of many working parties, government committees and steering bodies. In the same role I have implemented many reforms in the Danish library system and I have been author and co-author on many reports, policies and strategies. I was involved in a number of cross-ministry activities.

For a number of years I was also responsible for the administration of grants for Danish broadcast and print and digital media.

Ultra short CV:
I hold a degree in comparative literature from Aarhus University (1974) and for fifteen years I was lecturing literary history at that university and at The Royal School of Library- and Information Science. I also worked as a literary critic and reader for publishing houses. From 1989 to 1995 I built and was head of (on a commercial basis) a department for consultancy and continuing education at The Royal School. From 1996 to 97 I was director of the Danish Library Association. In 1997 I was appointed CEO of the Danish Agency for Libraries (and later for media and culture).

I am author and co-author to a huge number of books and articles and have given lectures and workshops worldwide.
